Happy Independence Day! We headed over to Manti Park for the holiday festivities. We started the day by getting some icees to cool us off and the kids had their faces/arms painted to be in a festive mood.
The kids pparticipatedin a candy run. The missionaries launched candy into the air and the kids ran wild trying to get as much as possible. They were divided into age groups so it wasn't too crazy. They found lots of treats to snack on.
Later we did the money dash. The kids looked for coins in the hay. They each found a few coins and had fun, although Benton's allergies acted up afterwards. We ate at Miller's before heading home to cool off and relax.
That evening we watched the parade on main street. We gathered even more candy and enjoyed watching the royalty float by. Emerson was petrified of the loud tanks and fire engines. The older kids loved it! Emmie even snagged a festive blow up ball that was thrown.
That evening we sat on the grass by the family history center and watched the fireworks light up the sky. The kids enjoyed throwing glow stick around as we waited. They also made friends with nearby children. The fireworks were a little anticlimactic, but we didn't mind as we had been having our own amazing shows for days before. We shot of fireworks that soared into the sky, made all sorts of noises, and glowed in a variety of colors. We had our own shows that were some of the bets I've ever seen! I guess we are all a little fire happy. I am so grateful we could celebrate our freedoms and the privilege we have to worship as we see fit. This country was truly guided by the hand of God in it's creation.
